ANALOG MULTIMETER DEMONSTRATOR (BASIC METER, EXTENSION OF CURRENT & RESISTANCE RANGES, AC/DC VOLTAGE RANGES)

Objectives of this experiment:

This demonstrator provides an insight into the working of an analog multimeter to the student. Selection of ranges made by patching wires is required for better understanding. Moving coil meter having a sensitivity of (0-200) mA has to be connected. This demonstrator provides an insight into the working of an analog multimeter to the student Selection of ranges is made by patch cords for better understanding. In this unit DC voltage ranges of 100mV, 1V, 10V, 100V are selected by using series resistors. AC Voltages are used, in the same ranges, by rectifying the input voltage before connecting to the appropriate series resistors. Meter protection is included to protect the meter against any accidental overloads, which will certainly burn the moving coil.

ELECTRONIC VOLTMETER-1 (AC&DC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT

Objectives of this experiment:

The electronic meter has several advantages over the passive type of multimeter. By electronically processing the incoming voltage or current, much greater sensitivity with less circuit loading can be obtained. Field effect transistors, which are basically voltage amplifiers have very high input resistance and therefore take very little current from the circuit, which feeds it. In this experiment you can construct EMM and measure the unknown AC & DC voltages.

Built in regulated power supply: + 9V/300mA
Input Supply: 230 VAC/50Hz mains operated.
Dimension: 27cms x 17cms x 10cms.

DIGITAL MULTIMETER (3 1/2 DIGIT DISPLAY UNIT WITH BUILT -IN A/D CONVERTER CIRCUIT FOR 200 mV, 2V, 20V, 200V RANGES DC AND AC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENTS

Objectives of this experiment:

The 3 digit multimeter demonstrator is intended to provide an opportunity to the student to understand the working Of the instrument. Several test points are provided on the circuit diagram to enable the student to observe the waveforms and to make measurements. The digital multimeter accepts an analog quantity and converts it to an equivalent digital readout. It has the ability to measure a wide variety of values, like DC & AC voltages, from a few millivolts to several hundreds of volts.

Built in regulated power supply: +5V/500mA; -5V/300mA
Input Supply: 230 VAC/50Hz mains operated.

DIGITAL FREQUENCY COUNTER -4 (SIGNAL CONDITIONER AND INPUT CIRCUIT UNIT)

Objectives of this experiment:

Signal conditioner and input circuit unit accepts sine wave and shapes into a square wave of the same frequency, after its amplitude is properly adjusted to be about 5V. Invariably the input signal, whose frequency is to be measured, is a sine wave signal Its amplitude is amplified attenuated before it is fed to a Schmitt trigger, which converts sine waves into square waves of the same frequency. All the units are essential for complete working.

Built in regulated power supply: +15V/150mA, -15V/150mA.
Input Supply: 230 VAC/50Hz mains operated.
Dimension: 27cms x 17cms x 10cms.

DIGITAL FREQUENCY COUNTER - 3 (GATE & RESET CONTROL UNIT)

Objectives of this experiment:

The gate and reset control unit combines the square wave of the input signal with a "1-second time-base" and converts the simple counter to a calibrated frequency counter. This "1-second time-base" produces pulses that turn the gate on and off at precise intervals. The time duration of the display unit is adjustable between 6 seconds to 15-seconds.

Built in regulated power supply: +5V/300mA
Input Supply: 230 VAC/50Hz mains operated.
Dimension: 27cms x 17cms x 10cms.

DIGITAL FREQUENCY COUNTER-2 (TIME-BASE, WITH CRYSTAL CONTROLLED DECADE SCALER UNIT)

Objectives of this experiment:

The crystal controlled decade scaler unit is intended to supply an exact 1-second square wave. Actually, 1 MHz crystal oscillator is used to generate 1 MHz square wave. It is scaled down from 1MHz to 1Hz, using seven decade scaled down steps of 1 MHz, 100 KHz, 10KHz, 1KHz, 100Hz, 10Hz and finally 1Hz.

Built in regulated power supply: +5V/300mA

DIGITAL FREQUENCY COUNTER - 1 (5 DIGIT DISPLAY UNIT, DECODER, LATCH AND DECADE PULSE COUNTER UNIT

Objectives of this experiment:

Decade counter, decoder-driver and digital display unit consists of five-cascaded decade counters, five decoder-drivers and five digital displays. Five-decade counters accept any input signal from 00.000 to 99.999Hz, Their outputs are fed into decoder drivers, which convert BCD signal into equivalent 7 -segment digital outputs. These outputs are fed into five 7-segment LED displays, which actually display the input frequency in decimal form.
